... It will continue to feel impossible until you learn this ONE thing that will change everything.
Motivation WILL NOT get you to your goals. Motivation may be the thing that gets you started, but it will never be the thing that gets you to the finish line. Why? Because motivation doesn't last long at all. Think about that for a second. Because you've probably been motivated numerous times with a goal you've had in your life, and even though you had that initial motivation, it did not make you follow through. Seriously, think about that!
NOW I WANT YOU TO ROCK WITH ME ON WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SHARE NEXT...
I want you to think of how many times you were motivated, and got excited about a goal. You felt good. You prepped and planned for the start day of that goal. It was a brand new goal (all over again), so you had all the good feelings running through your body. You were excited again to follow through with this goal.
Your goals may have looked like the below:
"I'm going to lose weight."
"I'm going to start a business."
"I'm going on that trip."
"I'm going to be more confident."
"I'm setting boundaries."
"I'm going to save my money."
"I'm going to eat healthier."
"I'm going to start working out."
"I'm going to apply for that job."
"I'm going to live my life in a way that feels good to me."
"I'm not people-pleasing anymore."
And as soon as you decide to set that goal in motion for yourself, every "NEGATIVE THOUGHT" in your brain comes up that starts to fight against what you want. But because you were setting the goal again (or for the first time), you still had a bit of that good energy and inspiration flowing through your body, and you were able to easily move past those "NEGATIVE THOUGHTS" (This is always common in the beginning). Then two weeks in, you get sick, but you recover, and you keep going. Another week later, you get an unexpected large bill in the mail, you get sick to your stomach, and this prevents you from being able to save your money, for the moment, like you had planned. You "feel" upset, but you figure out a way to still save "some" money, even if it wasn't what you had originally planned. You are now 3 weeks into your goal(s), and you are still pushing through, but it doesn't feel as good as it did in the beginning when you first got started when you had all the good energy and initial motivation and inspiration. And NOW, more negative thoughts are starting to creep in every day. You're a little more frustrated. Now you are having thoughts of giving up, but you don't.
Then week 6 rolls around and everybody and their momma wants to challenge this new way of life you are living; healthy eating, spending less money, and not going out as often as you used to. GETTING IN THE BED EARLIER SO YOU CAN FEEL RESTED. They've got all the jokes, and they are tempting you to ditch your goal(s). They love you, and they mean well, but they only know you as the person you were before; the one that goes through this phase often, and doesn't follow through.
By this time, even more negative thoughts start to come up in your head:
And the truth is, you can't handle how those negative thoughts are making you feel in your body.
You start feeling more and more defeated, depressed, stuck, stressed, and heavy (all the low vibey emotions), all because of the negative thoughts that keep repeating in your head daily.
THE RESULTS: You start taking less and less action, and YOU make the decision to abandon your goal(s), and not follow through once again.
Here's what happened...
YOUR THOUGHTS CREATED YOUR LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH!!! YOUR THOUGHTS CREATED YOUR RESULTS OF NOT ACHIEVING YOUR OUTCOMES!!!
And listen, you didn't even notice that your thoughts did that (most people don't). Those negative thoughts looped in your head day after day, and eventually made you feel really bad to the point where you quit on yourself.
You probably blamed your lack of follow through on something outside of you.
AS HUMANS, WE DO BLAME OUR LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH ON OTHER HUMANS, OR THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE WORLD. IT WASN'T OTHER PEOPLE, OR THE WORLD THAT CREATED YOUR LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH, IT WAS YOUR THOUGHTS!
What it all boils down to is, you are not practiced at being aware of how your negative thoughts impact your ability to follow through, and how your negative thoughts create more of what you don't want like extra weight, lack of time, inconsistent body movement, lack of savings, lack of confidence, lack of good health, more people pleasing, etc.
YOU CONTROLLED YOUR RESULTS!!
Listen, this is such a good thing to know, because this IS something that you have 1000% complete control over this. Yep, your own thoughts. And here's even more good news...You can change your own thoughts, and create new ones that actually keep you moving forward and following though...NO MATTER WHAT!!
Whether the obstacle is created by your own "thinking", or whether the obstacle is external, once you are completely aware of your thoughts, how they make you feel and how they make you show up for yourself in this world, you start to build and create the consistency and discipline (that you've been wanting for years), with so much ease.
Your change begins with this process through awareness.
THE PROBLEM WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR THOUGHTS AND HOW YOUR THOUGHTS MAKE YOU FEEL...ALWAYS!!
YOUR THOUGHTS AND YOUR FEELINGS CONTROL YOUR ACTIONS OR INACTION, WHICH ULTIMATELY CONTROL YOUR RESULTS! IT'S THE REASON YOU CONSTANTLY QUIT! BECAUSE YOUR HUMAN DEFAULT IS TO LIVE IN A NEGATIVE SPACE. WE CAN CHANGE THAT!
You don't have to stay stuck. You can decide today is your day to start creating what you want. My life has changed for the better since I met Ms. Chajuana!
During what I considered the lowest point in my life--going through a divorce, desiring to rediscover myself amid single parenthood, working a full-time job in healthcare, and managing my own business--I was in a rut. I resorted to mindless activities, such as binge-eating and watching Netflix for hours to cope. I often made excuses, claiming that I didn't have time to change my habits.
